Autocross racing in India: what it is and how to enter
Autocross is a timed race for cars on a short course, usually on dirt or gravel. Cars run against the clock rather than wheel-to-wheel, so it is one of the most accessible ways to start car racing: you need a sound car, safety equipment and the nerve to drive it fast. This page explains how autocross works and how to enter the autocross day of Motofy Fest Speed Orion Cup in Jaipur.
How an autocross works
Each driver gets timed runs through a marked course. Fastest time in your category wins. Because cars run against the clock instead of against each other, the risk of contact is low and a well-driven everyday car can be competitive.
Categories at Speed Orion Cup
| Category | Entry fee |
|---|---|
| Open / Autocross | ₹8,000 |
| Modified / Autocross | ₹8,000 |
A driver can enter up to two categories. The autocross day is Monday 25 January 2027 at Motofy Arena, Jagatpura, Jaipur, followed by a DJ night.
Preparing your car
- Safety first — every vehicle goes through a technical and safety inspection before the event, and an unsafe vehicle can be rejected.
- Tyres and brakes — on loose dirt these decide your time more than horsepower.
- Remove loose items from the cabin and boot before your run.
Learn before you race
Motofy Arena runs four-wheeler driving sessions every Sunday, 6–10 AM in a safe, guided practice zone — a good way to learn car control on loose surfaces before race day.
