A proper track walk turns an intimidating circuit into a series of problem-solving opportunities you can rehearse on foot before you twist the throttle.

Start your walk at the start-finish line and move in the direction of race flow. Walk slowly. Your goal is not cardio. Look for the small details: painted curbs that mark track limits, patches of darker asphalt where grip changes, and drainage cuts that can unsettle your suspension mid-corner. At every braking zone, stop and face the direction you will be traveling. Pick a visual marker—a tree, a marshal post, a crack in the tarmac—and lock it into your memory. That is where you will begin braking when you are moving at speed.

Pay attention to corner exits. Walk to the outside edge of the track and look back toward the apex. This reverse view shows you how much run-off you actually have and helps you commit to carrying more speed through the turn. Take photos on your phone if it helps.
